The top European jumping teams along with the Greek team will compete at the CSIO5 * -W, an event that belongs at of the highest international classification of five stars, which will be organized for the first time in Greece at the Olympic Equestrian Center in Markopoulo on July 25-28, 2019. After the 2004 Olympic Games and the Global Champions Tour in 2007, the world’s elite jumping riders return to Markopoulo for this prestigious event sponsored by LONGINES.
In addition to the rich prize money, teams will also compete for heir qualification to the Nations Cup Final in Barcelona 2019 and for a chance to qualify for the TOKYO 2020 Olympic Games. Individual riders will fight for valuable points for the World Cup Final and for the LONGINES Rankings. Except for the highlight five-stars event, the Athens Equestrian Festival 2019 on the same dates will include two more international competitions, a CSI2 * and a CSIYH1 * for young horses, which will attract numerous riders from Greece and abroad.
The Hellenic Equestrian Federation is proud to have been chosen by the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) to organize this event of huge importance and prestige, that will make our country the centre of the global equestrian sport and media for a whole week and will re-confirm the Olympic Equestrian Center in Markopoulo as a top destination for international equestrian events of the highest level creating a wealth of synergies and multiple side benefits for the equestrian sport in Greece, for the image of the country and for the local economy.
